Desert Fresh is a producer of quality grapes since 1993, and has engaged in a Food Safety Program encompassing the entire production process from soil to shipping. The plan is based on Good Agricultural Practices as outlined by the FDA's "Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables." These practices minimize the potential for contamination of fresh produce, however, they will not eliminate them due to circumstances beyond our control. Therefore, we have established a traceback system in the event of a food born illness associated with our grapes. This will allow us to determine where the grapes originated and who packed them. Growing safe produce is not new to Desert Fresh. We have always adhered to governed field sanitation and pesticide laws and regulations. The Food Safety Program we have implemented will further assist us in growing the safest grapes in the world. The following link is to the USDA's website for companies that have been audited and demonstrated a level of adherence with the FDA's "Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables." Please visit this site and scroll down to view Desert Fresh's results. Our cold storage was audited by Primus and can be sent to you upon request.
